THE BRADLEY METHOD

June's Bradley Method childbirth program consists of 10 classes. Students will learn and practice relaxation and natural breathing techniques for labor, focusing on a natural childbirth and active participation by the husband or partner. Nutrition, pregnancy and labor, comfort measures, breastfeeding, newborn care, consumerism, communication
and birth plans are also covered in great detail with a goal of a healthy baby and
healthy mother.

Classes are held Sunday afternoons at The Yoga Room in Crown Point. The
comprehensive nine week course includes custom student binder and online
materials, extensive lending library, birth keepsake and organic snacks. You
and your partner will learn how to work together toward a healthy pregnancy
and a safe, inspired natural birth experience. Couples receive
principal-centered instruction in nutrition and exercise; normal aspects of
pregnancy, labor and birth; relaxation and breathing; complications and
interventions; positive communication techniques; breastfeeding; newborn and
postpartum care; and much more.
Kristi is a mother of 3 children, 2 born in the hospital and one at home. As a Bradley-trained childbirth educator, DONA-certified doula and certified yoga instructor, she has worked extensively with women and families during pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. She acts as a guide and facilitator, helping women tap into their own inner strength and wisdom as they navigate this exciting time in their lives.

A doula is a trained and experienced woman who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a woman before, during and after childbirth. The support of a doula can decrease the length of labor by 25%, the use of vacuum/forceps by 40%, pitocin use by 40%, narcotics by 30%, the use of epidurals by 60% and lowering Cesarean sections by 50%.
