June's Bradley Method childbirth program consists of 10 classes. Students will learn and practice relaxation and natural breathing techniques for labor, focusing on a natural childbirth and active participation by the husband or partner. Nutrition, pregnancy and labor, comfort measures, breastfeeding, newborn care, consumerism, communication
and birth plans are also covered in great detail with a goal of a healthy baby and
healthy mother.

Classes are held Sunday evening in Crown Point. Tuition includes 12 units of instruction; student workbook and binder; lending library; and healthy, homemade snacks are provided with recipes. The Bradley Method teaches couples how to work together witht he goal of a healthy, low risk pregnancy and a safe and joyful natural birth experience. Couples will receive instruction in nutrition and exercise; normal aspects of the pregnancy, labor and birth process; relaxation and natural breathing; consumerism and positive communication techniques; breastfeeding; newborn and postpartum care and much more.

The support of a doula can decrease the length of labor by 25%, the use of vacuum/forceps by 40%, pitocin use by 40%, narcotics by 30%, the use of epidurals by 60% and lowering Cesarean sections by 50%.

Robin began attending home and hospital births in 1996 as a doula and a midwives assistant, becoming a certified birth assistant through ALACE soon after.
